Netbook won't run programs?

I have an acer Aspire one netbook and for the last few days it hasn't been letting me run some programs like itunes, firefox, or utorrent. I tried uninstalling these programs but when i try to click uninstall it wont open same as the others, so i tried scanning for viruses but none of the security options will start. Please help.
